The search for an hourglass figure by women has never been this real. Every tabloid, magazine and social media page is flaunting sexy pictures of curvaceous ladies. It kind of makes you wonder how they do it right? Well, one sure way of getting a curvy body is by getting a smaller waist and aiming for bigger hips, and a jiggly butt (I already showed you how).

Maybe you are not vain like the rest of us curve craving lasses. Nonetheless, you should bear in mind that having excess belly fat increases your chances of getting some serious health conditions such as a heart attack, diabetes and in some cases, cancer. I, therefore, cannot emphasize enough the importance of maintaining a healthy body fat around your waist.

So, do you want to know how to get a smaller waist? I will be showing you in a bit. First, a little piece of my mind. You may decide to go under the knife in pursuit of a better body. Sure, this might work for a while, until you get back to your old habits and you are back where you started. Maybe worse.

Do it the natural way, it is way safer, less expensive and will take around two months tops to start seeing results. Ready? Here we go.

Exercise Smart

One of the hardest areas to sculpt and lose weight from is the waist area. While you cannot lose fat around one specific area on your body, you can work smart by targeting your waist directly. I will be talking about exercises that are best at targeting your mid-section in a bit.

First, I want to introduce an equipment that will help you burn the fat around your waist much faster: a waist trimmer. These are worn around the waist during workouts to provide a conducive environment for burning fat. If you have never heard of waist trimmers. They could be just what you need to get a smaller waist.

Now that you have your trimmer on, what exercises are going to give you a smaller waist? To prepare your muscles for the actual exercises, start with a total body cardio workouts for 15 to 20 minutes. Skip light cardio workouts such as jumping jacks and go for an intense treadmill run.

If treadmills do not appeal you, go for a rowing machine or recumbent bike or even elliptical machine workout for 20 minutes. This will keep your metabolism up making it easy to burn calories.

After the warm-up, start strength training exercises targeted at your waist. Start off slow with your body weight and with time, you can gradually incorporate weights into your routine. Take a look at the video below for the best exercises for a smaller waist.

Of course, if you own an ab roller at home, that’s great. You can do additional exercises with it for best effect.

Eat Healthy and Drink Plenty of Water

If you keep up with my weight loss stories and advice on sculpting any part of your body, you have realized that a good diet is usually top of the list in trying to achieve this. Try as much as possible to replaced processed food with fresh organic foods comprising of whole grains, lean meat, proteins and loads of fruits and vitamins.

Whole grains give your body its required energy without accumulating unnecessary calories. On the other hand, proteins are the building blocks for your muscles which are essential in developing your ab muscles hence promoting a tiny mid-section. Consume plenty of fruits and vegetables to get minerals and antioxidants.

And of course, do not forget to incorporate healthy fats such as olive oil salmon (omega 3) and avocado into your diet.

Water will help hydrate your body and is attributed to assisting in weight loss. Drinking plenty of water will also give you a feeling of being full hence preventing you from overeating.

To recap all this, maintain a balanced diet since every food group is important in the development of your body but ensure you focus on the quality rather than the quantity of the food you eat.

Build Your Shoulders, Chest and Hips

Some people usually have little or no fat around their waists but still end up looking like they have a big waist. In this case, targeting your waist alone won’t cut it in the attempt to get a smaller waist. You have to shape the rest of your body too in order to give an illusion of a tiny waist.

Most women cringe at the thought of big shoulders and chest. Keep calm. You do not have high testosterone levels. This means that you will not get huge masculine shoulders.

Also, perform exercises that will give you wider hips such that your waist will look smaller hence you will attain the much-coveted hourglass figure.

Consider Changing Your Clothing Style

Being a fitness enthusiast, I believe any fitness goal is attainable with the right attitude and hard work. But also, I believe that it is smart to be realistic when setting fitness goals. What I’m getting at is that we all have different body shapes. It is quite difficult for an apple shaped individual to get an hour glass shape or a tiny waist through diet and exercise.

This is where the magic of proper dressing comes in. If your body shape does not allow you to easily get a tiny waist, try to create an illusion of one by wearing dresses that are tighter at the mid-section flare at the bottom. You can also throw on all kinds of belts to make your waist look smaller and give you an hourglass figure.

Well, there you have it, the key to getting a tiny waist and probably a curvy body. I strongly emphasize on maintaining a healthy diet and a consistent workout routine in order to get long lasting results fast.
