Kitchener-Waterloo-based Accelerator Centre (AC) has secured a $10 million CAD investment decision from the Authorities of Canada via the Federal Financial Growth Company for Southern Ontario (FedDev).

The funding, which will come from FedDev’s Regional Innovation Ecosystem stream, will go towards the start of AC:Studio, a hybrid enterprise studio software targeted on supporting early-phase startups across southern Ontario. FedDev’s Regional Innovation Ecosystem stream invests in regional networks, and investments range from $500,000 to $10 million for each venture, which means AC obtained the optimum amount of money.
With the latest federal investment, AC:Studio is expected to provide 100 startups with up to $100,000 in seed funding till March 2025. Programs are open from June 6 until finally July 1, with the software kicking off in September.
AC’s director of promoting and communications Tabatha Laverty informed BetaKit that $4.7 million of the $10 million will go right to founders by the grants delivered by AC. The remainder of the money will be devoted to program delivery expenditures.
