Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury has welcomed its next intake of trainee accountants to its Community Finance Management (PFM) Learnership Programme.

The 30 trainees will be positioned across several departments, municipalities and condition entities in the province.

Initiated in 2019, the PFM Learnership Programme is a 3-year blended coaching programme that is facilitated by the South African Institute of Specialist Accountants (SAIPA).

It is provided at NQF degree 8 (honours) and features academic and practical operate to widen the trainees’ technological and realistic skills.

Cyril Dlamini, Mpumalanga Treasury’s Normal Manager of Belongings and Liabilities Administration, says the programme will assistance the division to boost economic discipline, accountability and powerful governance, in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and the Municipal Finance Administration Act (MFMA).

Dimpho Mashigo (27) of White River is one particular of the 30 trainees. He retains a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Witwatersrand.

Mashigo applied for the programme after looking at an advert on social media in September 2021. “I used on line and was fortuitous to be chosen.”

Karl Smith, Head of Education, Training, and Aid at SAIPA, welcomed the collaboration with the Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury, stating that it helps the institution to sustain a pool of capable and experienced accountants.
