62.6 : The Australians were very disciplined with the ball! They hardly gave anything away to the Lankan batters. They did not get a lot of assistance from the wicket but ensured run scoring was not easy. We believe they under bowled Swepson. He was the one who broke the big stand but he could have been given a lot more overs but maybe they felt the wicket just was not turning enough. They though would hope the wicket starts playing tricks on Day 3 which is also known as the ‘moving day’ and we could w In reply, they did lose Pathum Nissanka early but then came a brilliant partnership between Kusal Mendis and the skipper, Dimuth Karunaratne. The two added 152 with both scoring half tons. Karunaratne fell towards the end of the day but Mathews showed great resilience towards the end of the day and he along with Mendis ensured no more wickets fell. Sri Lanka though still trail by quite a few runs and they will need another partnership if they want to be in a position to take a lead. End of a day dominated by the hosts! Their batters have finally come to the fore and ensured they have stormed back into the game.
