- Time management- For the best results, three hours must be managed with care. Use the test hall reading time to remove the options in the 8 marker questions. Section B should take no more than 40 to 45 minutes to complete. Answer the 8-mark questions in no more than 20 minutes. Make the most of your three hours by completing the complete paper with some time left over for revision. Extra writing will not benefit you and will only waste your time. For example, if the question only requires the capital account, there is no need to produce the balance sheet; similarly, if the question only requires journal entries, there is no need to construct the ledger account and balance sheet.

- Make flashcards to help you recall the definitions of new concepts like assets, debts, liabilities, and profit and loss. On your drive to school, before dinner, or even in between lectures, read these flashcards.
- Never put off tasks till later. Accounting is a subject that must be studied in its entirety. This means that it expands on previously taught principles. You cannot begin chapter 6 without first working through chapters one through five; the longer you wait, the more work will pile up.
- If you don’t feel like solving the numerical section, read the summary at the end of each chapter or look through the flashcards.
- After you’ve completed your syllabus, go through it as many times as you can.
- When you’ve finished with your syllabus, move on to paper solving to familiarise yourself with the test-taking environment. Work through the board example papers.
